Premium Digital Intarsia Patterns for Woodworkers

Pattern licence & usage

Digital Product License

This Digital Product License explains how digital intarsia patterns, PDF files, printable templates and other downloadable materials purchased from IntarsiaPattern may be used. It also explains important restrictions relating to sharing, resale, commercial use, group use and intellectual property.

Last updated: 6 October 2026

When you purchase a digital pattern from IntarsiaPattern, you receive permission to use the supplied files under the terms of this Digital Product License. A purchase does not transfer copyright ownership of the original pattern, illustrations, instructions or other protected materials.

Section 01

Digital Product License Overview

Unless a product page specifically provides different terms, digital products sold by IntarsiaPattern are supplied under a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable personal-use licence.

The licence is granted to the individual purchaser and applies only to products that have been lawfully purchased. The original digital files remain protected even after they have been downloaded to your computer or other personal device.

Digital Product License: What You Can and Cannot Do

The summary below explains the basic distinction between permitted personal project use and activities that require additional permission.

✓
You Can

Download your purchased files, print working copies for your own project and use the pattern to create personal woodworking projects.

×
You Cannot

Resell, redistribute, upload or provide the original digital pattern files to another person unless written permission or another applicable licence allows it.

Digital Product License Quick Rule

Purchasing a pattern gives you rights to use the file within the applicable licence. It does not give you ownership of the pattern or permission to distribute the original digital product to other people.

Section 02

Ownership of Digital Products

A purchase gives you permission to use the digital product according to this licence. It does not transfer ownership of copyright, design rights, trademarks or other intellectual property associated with that product.

Unless otherwise stated, IntarsiaPattern or the applicable rights holder retains intellectual property rights in original:

  • Intarsia pattern designs.
  • PDF pattern files.
  • Printable templates.
  • Pattern illustrations.
  • Diagrams and instructional materials.
  • Product graphics and presentation materials.
  • Original digital assets supplied with a product.

For additional information about ownership and website content, read our Copyright Policy .

Section 03

Personal Use Under This License

Unless an individual product page says otherwise, the standard IntarsiaPattern licence is intended for personal use.

This means that you may use a purchased pattern to create woodworking projects for yourself, your household or as personal gifts.

You may also print reasonable working copies of the pattern for your own use while creating the project.

One purchase = one user licence

Purchasing one copy of a digital product does not give the purchaser permission to distribute copies of the file to friends, employees, customers, students, club members or other people.

Section 04

Permitted Uses of Purchased Patterns

Under the standard personal-use licence, you may:

  • Download the purchased files to your own devices.
  • Create a reasonable number of backup copies for personal archival purposes.
  • Print working copies for your own woodworking project.
  • Resize the pattern for your own personal project where technically appropriate.
  • Use the pattern as a guide for cutting, shaping and assembling a personal intarsia project.
  • Display your completed physical project in your home or personal workspace.
  • Give a completed physical project as a personal gift.
  • Share photographs of your own completed woodworking project.
Section 05

Prohibited Uses

Unless you have prior written permission or another applicable commercial licence, you must not:

  • Sell or resell the original digital pattern.
  • Share the purchased PDF or other digital files with another person.
  • Upload the pattern to Google Drive, Dropbox, forums, Facebook groups or other shared locations for others to access.
  • Sell the digital files on Etsy, Creative Market, Gumroad or another marketplace.
  • Include the files inside another downloadable product, bundle or membership.
  • Redistribute a modified version of the original pattern.
  • Convert the pattern into another digital format for distribution or resale.
  • Claim that you designed or own the original pattern.
  • Remove copyright, licence or ownership information for the purpose of redistribution.
  • Use the files to create a competing pattern library, subscription service or download website.
Section 06

Commercial Use and Additional Permission

The standard licence does not automatically grant commercial-production rights.

If an individual product page specifically states that a commercial licence is included, the commercial-use terms on that product page apply in addition to this policy.

Additional permission may be required if you want to use a pattern for:

  • Commercial production.
  • Products made repeatedly for resale.
  • Manufacturing.
  • Wholesale production.
  • Business workshops.
  • Paid classes.
  • Customer commissions produced at scale.

For a commercial-use question, visit our Contact page or email support@intarsiapattern.com before using the pattern for an activity not covered by the standard licence.

Section 07

Finished Physical Woodworking Products

Under the standard personal-use licence, finished physical projects may be made for personal use or as personal gifts.

The right to sell finished physical items made from a pattern is not automatically included unless:

  • The individual product page expressly permits that use; or
  • You obtain written commercial-use permission from IntarsiaPattern.

Permission to sell a finished physical item does not give the user permission to sell, share or redistribute the underlying digital pattern file.

Section 08

Sharing and Distribution Rules

Purchased digital pattern files must not be shared with another person simply because no money is being charged.

Examples of prohibited sharing include:

  • Emailing the PDF to another woodworker.
  • Sending the pattern through messaging applications.
  • Posting downloadable files in woodworking groups.
  • Uploading the file to public or shared cloud storage.
  • Printing copies for distribution to several people.
  • Giving the digital file away as a free download.

Anyone who wants their own copy of the pattern should obtain their own licence through the appropriate product listing.

Section 09

Resizing and Modifying Patterns

You may resize or make reasonable adjustments to a purchased pattern for your own permitted project use.

However, modifying, tracing, recolouring, simplifying, converting, redrawing or otherwise changing a pattern does not automatically create a new digital product that may be sold or distributed.

Modification does not remove the original licence

A modified or converted version of a purchased pattern remains subject to the applicable licence when it is derived from the original protected product.

Section 10

Classes, Clubs and Group Use

A standard single-user licence does not permit one purchased file to be distributed to an entire class, woodworking club, business, workshop or training group.

If several participants require the pattern, each participant should obtain an appropriate licence unless IntarsiaPattern has provided written permission for group use.

For group, classroom or educational questions, use the IntarsiaPattern support page .

Section 11

AI, Machine Learning and Dataset Use

Unless expressly authorised in writing, purchased digital pattern files may not be uploaded, submitted or incorporated into datasets for:

  • Training generative AI models.
  • Training pattern-generation systems.
  • Building commercial machine-learning datasets.
  • Automated extraction of pattern libraries.
  • Creating a competing automated pattern-generation service based substantially on IntarsiaPattern files.

This restriction does not prevent ordinary personal use of software solely to print, resize or view a purchased pattern where the protected files are not redistributed or used for model training.

Section 12

License Termination

Your licence may terminate if you materially violate these terms, including through unauthorised redistribution, resale or commercial exploitation of the digital files.

Where legally permitted, after termination you must stop unauthorised use and distribution of the affected product.

Termination does not prevent IntarsiaPattern from pursuing rights or remedies available under applicable law for prior infringements.
